"In Spirit And In Truth" Text:
"God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth.”" (John 4:24)
"8 ‘These people draw near to me with their mouth,
and honor me with their lips;
but their heart is far from me.
9 And they worship me in vain,
teaching as doctrine rules made by men.’ ”* "
(Matthew 15:8-9)
"He said to them, “Full well do you reject the commandment of God, that you may keep your tradition."
(Mark 7:9)
Do we worship in spirit and in truth? The Lord does not like mixed worship. (Deuteronomy 12:29-32; Jeremiah 25:6; 2 Corinthians 6:14; Matthew 6:24; etc) It does not honor the Lord when we honor days the Lord did not command. We cannot do whatever we want and think we are honoring the Lord. The Lord does not change. (Malachi 3:6; Numbers 23:19; Isaiah 40:8; 1 Samuel 15:29; Psalm 102:27; Hebrews 13:8; James 1:17; etc) The One that became known as Jesus was the God of the Old Testament. (John 5:37; Matthew 11:27; John 1:1; John 8:58; 1 Corinthians 10:1-4; Ephesians 3:9; Colossians 1:16-18; etc) Many that call themselves believers follow the commandments of men instead of following the Commandments of God. Many believers worship on the first day of the week but God sanctified the seventh day of the week. God commanded His Holy Days (Passover, Feast of Unleavened Bread, Feast of Trumpets, Day of Atonement, etc.) Many believers don't celebrate those God Commanded Holy Days. They celebrate man made holidays like Christmas and Easter. You can't put Christ in Christmas because He was never in it. Look it up. You can easily find what these so called holidays are about. We don't know what we don't know but are we blinded from learning the truth? If we know the truth what are we going to do with it? I want to do what I can to honor the Lord. I don't want to be just a believer. I want to be a follower.
