"How Do You Interpret" Text:

How often do we quote or share Scriptures? Do we fully understand the meaning of the Scriptures we are sharing? God's Word is deep. Some of His Word is easy to understand. Some is not. There are many Verses that seem easy to understand but still seem to be misinterpreted.  How many go by the interpretation of others? How many just go past the Scripture without giving the Verse much thought? "Having been made perfect, he became to all of those who obey him the author of eternal salvation," (Hebrews 5:9) How do you interpret that Verse?  "If you love me, keep my commandments. " (John 14:15)  How do you interpret that Verse?  "For most certainly, I tell you, until heaven and earth pass away, not even one smallest letter† or one tiny pen stroke‡ shall in any way pass away from the law, until all things are accomplished." (Matthew 5:18) How do you interpret that Verse?  " Do we then nullify the law through faith? May it never be! No, we establish the law." (Romans 3:31) How do you interpret that Verse? How do you interpret these Verses? These are just a few Verses that seem to be misinterpreted or ignored. Consider Genesis 2:3, Leviticus 23:4, Malachi 3:6, Matthew 7:21, John 1:1, John 8:58, Acts 5:32,  Romans 7:12, Hebrews 13:8, 1 Corinthians 7:19,  1 John 3:4, 1 John 5:3, John 14:23, 2 John 1:6, Revelation 12:17,  Revelation 14:12, and Revelation 22:14. I am not giving my interpretation of any of these Scriptures. Do you interpret these and other Scriptures by someone else's interpretation? Or do you interpret the Scriptures by what the Scriptures actually say? "For am I now seeking the favor of men, or of God? Or am I striving to please men? For if I were still pleasing men, I wouldn’t be a servant of Messiah."  (Galatians 1:10) "“Why do you call me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ and don’t do the things which I say? " (Luke 6:46) Take some time to think about how you interpret the Bible. Make sure your interpretation of God's Word is based on God's Word.
