“Do You Have Trigger Days” Text

Do you have trigger days? Are there days that make you sad just because of what happened on that day years ago? I know I have some. The days of a loved one's birthday and the day they died are trigger days for me. Everything could be going right but my mood won’t be quite right. My father’s birthday is tomorrow. I have been thinking about that off and on since the middle of April. Yesterday was the birthday of a friend that was like family. I have a few trigger days. I am sure many do. How do we get through these trigger days? One moment at a time. It is okay to cry if the feeling overwhelms us. Getting overly upset will not bring them back but it is not wrong to acknowledge what we feel. Crying can be a release. Releases are good. It is good to let it out sometimes. Just don’t let it out in ways that hurt yourself or hurt others. We can honor the good memories in different ways. It is not wrong if we do it in innocent ways. I choose to honor the day of their birth and get through the day of their death. Talk to the Lord. Talk to a friend or loved one. Take it one moment at a time and remember you are not alone.
