Tikvat Yisrael Messianic Synagogue Bible Study Notes for May 15th:

TIKVAT YISRAEL MA'ARIV SERVICE & THURSDAY NIGHT TORAH STUDY - "GOTTLIEB BEIT MIDRASH" 5785

Parashat Emor 5785 / פָּרָשַׁת אֱמוֹר

17 May 2025 / 19 Iyyar 5785

Torah: Leviticus 21:1-24:23

Haftarah: Ezekiel 44:15-31

Gospels: Luke 18-20

A moed is an appointed time.

Moedim is the Lord's appointed Festivals.

When He was on Earth, Christ fulfilled the appointed times.

Leviticus 23 is God's appointments where He meets with His people.

To study the festivals is to study the future and to study Messiah.

God's Appointed Times have symbolic meaning about Yeshua's first and second advent.

Yeshua's first coming fulfilled the spring Festivals.

His second coming will fulfill the fall Festivals.

Shabbat teaches us about God's Grace.

Shabbat was made for man not man to serve the Sabbath.

The Sabbath is a Gift.

Hebrews 4:9-10

Yeshua is the Sabbath.

It is His Righteousness not ours.

Outside the Torah, Passover and the Feast of Unleavened Bread are confused.

The Passover is the first night when the lamb was killed.

The 15th day is the first day of the Feast of Unleavened Bread.

The 14th day of the first month (Nisan) is the Lord's Passover.

The 15th day is the first of the seven days of the Feast of Unleavened Bread.

They slaughtered the lambs at 3.

Yeshua said "It is finished" at that hour.

The day begins at sundown not in the morning.

Christ died on the Passover.

Jesus said "I am the Bread of Life".

We look to Him.

We are celebrating Him as our Unleavened Bread.

His Death satisfied God and covered our sins.

Yeshua fulfilled the Spring Festivals.

The Fall Festivals are to come.

The afternoon before the Passover is when the lambs were slaughtered.

That's when Yeshua gave up the Spirit.

The 14th is the Passover.

The 15th begins the Feast of Unleavened Bread.

Matthew 26:18

Yeshua referred to Passover as His Appointed Time.

He knew His Purpose was to come and to die.

He called Passover His Appointed Time because He knew He was going to the Father.

John 7

Yeshua knew the Plan God had worked out and He walked out that Plan.

He knew His Coming Time was not to die at Sukkot.

He knew His Appointed Time.

All we're doing now is an reenactment.

It isn't a real Passover sacrifice.

Acts 6:7

The sacrifice never gave salvation.

There is no sacrifice for willful disobedience.

Being saved now is the same way.

Being saved is through trust and repentance.

The sacrifices never took away sin.

They were a foreshadowing of what Yeshua would do.

Yeshua was on the Altar in the Heavenly Tabernacle before the world began.

An Omer is a Biblical unit of measure.

Yeshua is interwoven in all these Festivals.

There are two First Fruits.

Counting the Omer means counting the 49 days between the First Fruits of the Barley to Shavuot.

When we come out of bondage we are ascending up.

What is Shavuot?

It was when the Spirit descended on the Disciples.

Acts 2

It starts with the giving of the Torah.

We're ascending to a higher level to our Savior.

We should be moving closer to the Lord.

The 10 remembrances of the Feast of Trumpets - Coronation, repentance, Mount Sinai, warning, Temple, Binding of Isaac, fear, judgment, ingathering, and Resurrection

The Ten Days of Awe are the ten days between Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur.

If you think of anyone you offended, reconcile.

It is ten days to get it right.

The Books are opened on Rosh Hashanah.

The Books are sealed on Yom Kippur.

We need to make sure our names are in that Book.

We need to make sure we really are in Yeshua.

It's ten days to clean the slate.

Yeshua is our Atonement.

Passover has to do with Messiah being the Sacrifice for our sins.

Sukkot is called the Feast of Tabernacles or Feast of Booths.

It's about dwelling in God's Place.

It has always been God's plan to dwell with His people.

Sukkot is that great forever and ever where we dwell with Him.

The 8th day is God saying stay with me one more day.

When we turn our backs on God, His Hand of Protection He says we are on our own.

These are His Appointed Times and should not be taken lightly.
