"Jesus Is God" Text
"In the beginning, God† created the heavens and the earth." (Genesis 1:1)
"Hear, Israel: The LORD is our God. The LORD is one." (Deuteronomy 6:4)
"God said, “Let’s make man in our image, after our likeness. Let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the birds of the sky, and over the livestock, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” " (Genesis 1:26)
God in Genesis 1:1 and Lord in Deuteronomy 6:4 is Elohim. Elohim (אֱלֹהִים) is the Hebrew word for "God" or "gods". Elohim (אֱלֹהִים) is a plural noun in Hebrew.
The word one in Deuteronomy 6:4 is Echad (אֶחָד). Echad can mean a unit or unity. An example of a unity would be "one" flesh in marriage. Echad can mean unique. Echad can mean a lot more than the number one.
"The Father himself, who sent me, has testified about me. You have neither heard his voice at any time, nor seen his form." (John 5:37)
"Not that anyone has seen the Father, except he who is from God. He has seen the Father." (John 6:46)
"No one has seen God at any time. If we love one another, God remains in us, and his love has been perfected in us." (1 John 4:12)
No one has ever seen God the Father. In Psalm 45:6, God calls the Son Elohim.
"But of the Son he says,
“Your throne, O God, is forever and ever.
The scepter of uprightness is the scepter of your Kingdom." (Hebrews 1:8)
"and all drank the same spiritual drink. For they drank of a spiritual rock that followed them, and the rock was Christ." (1 Corinthians 10:4)
There are no contradictions in the Bible. There is our lack of understanding. We cannot base our understanding on the understanding of others. We have to base our understanding of the Bible by the Bible. Sometimes we have to do a little research. The One that became Yeshua (Jesus) is the God of the Old Testament. Jesus is God. We can only be saved through Jesus. If we want to be saved, we have to more than believe. We have to follow. We have to follow the Lord's ways not the ways of people.
