Parashat Shoftim 5785 / פָּרָשַׁת שׁוֹפְטִים
30 August 2025 / 6 Elul 5785
Torah: Deuteronomy 16:18-21:9
Haftarah: Isaiah 51:12-52:12
Gospels: Acts 10-12
It is not good to diminish Yeshua's Jewish Identity.
If He got rid of Jewishness He would be denying Himself.
God can't deny Himself.
If you take away His Jewishness He can't fulfill being a blessing to all nations.
The Messiah is the Word in human form.
If He broke Torah He would be denying His Character.
You don't follow Torah to be saved.
You follow Torah because you are saved.
The righteous Commandments are universal.
The weightier matters of Torah are universal.
Yeshua followed the Torah.
He knew Who He was from the Father.
He lived out the Torah.
Ezekiel 36
The Torah is a Copy of Yeshua.
Yeshua is the Original.
Matthew 5:17-19
Not even the smallest yod of the Torah will be removed or nullified.
A midrash is like a parable.
Taking out one letter changes the meaning.
You have to be very careful.
You have to know your Bible.
The Word of God stands forever.
The First Five Books is the Torah.
The Second is the Prophets.
The Third is the Writing (Provebs, Psalm, etc)
Jews don't call It the Old Testament. They call It the Tanakh.
The Hebrew Bible ends in 2 Chronicles.
It is the same Bible. It is just ordered differently.
The Word Torah means teaching.
Solomon did return in repentance.
We need Yeshua.
He is the Word.
He is the Torah.
Yeshua was Prophet, Priest, and King.
Moses talked directly to God.
Yeshua is sinless.
Moses was a Prophet.
Moses was like a Priest and like a King.
Yeshua is eternally One with the Father.
Yeshua is not a created being.
He is Eternal. He always existed.
God has no beginning and no end.
A true Prophet predicts things that come true and he has to be true to the Torah.
The sign Yeshua offered was that Jonah would be in the belly of the fish for three days as He (Yeshua) would be in the belly of the Earth for three days.
Jonah says he was in sheol.
Jonah 2:2
Yeshua rising from the dead and there were witnesses was the greatest thing.
The resurrection seals the deal.
Yeshua is the Commander.
If we surrender, God offers us terms of peace.
Yeshua set us free.
It is a freewill choice we made to follow Him.
Israel is not starving Gazans.
The Torah requires us to always offer peace.
To get salvation we have to accept Yeshua.
Yeshua offers us His Kingship.
