Started life in the dark

It got so dark

Dark in my thoughts

Dark in my heart

It was dark when I was awake

And often dark when I was asleep

Every smile was forced

If I acted okay, it was an act

I was never okay

Darkness surrounded me

It was all I could see

It was all I could feel

Now, I can see some light

I am coming out of the dark

I have hope I never had

I can see beyond the dark

Life has meaning

My life has purpose
