Sermonette:
Today we live in frightening times.
Everywhere you look in this world there are divisions.
Isaiah 55:8
But God does give us a way to cope.
He also gives a way to intercede for this world.
That way is prayer.
We should pray for all.
1 Timothy 2:1-
Prayer, Supplication, and Intercession.
Supplication means a prayer that is given with your whole heart
Intercession means we are interceding.
Christ intercedes for us with God.
We are to pray for the suffering.
When we pray we should give thanks to God.
We should pray for our leaders.
We may not agree with them but God has appointed them.
We can pray for God to protect us.
We should be praying for our leaders.
All this world will come to an end and will be replaced.
Isaiah 9:6-
We can go before God.

Sermon:
"The Power of the Paradox"
There are times we need to realize the difficulties will not get quick answers.
The paradox is a seemingly contradictory things.
The Bible has many seemingly paradoxes to make us think.
Proverbs 1:5-6
God wants us to think deeply on each Word to learn about Him.
We become great by being small.
We live by dying.
We become great by being humble.
Those are paradoxes.
Sometimes the answers don't come.
We're often busy doing things with God's Word.
We don't always let the Bible help us through difficult times.
The paradox is an open window to learn deeply about God.
Out of love, God reveals Himself to us.
A paradox can help us see things from a fresh perspective.
Jesus often left His audience with dangling ends for them to put together.
Mark 9:33-35
Matthew 20:20
If you want to be first you must be last.
Jesus is reframing things.
He was trying make them see things with a different perspective.
The use of a paradox makes us ask questions of ourselves.
Luke 9
Look with a new perspective.
Jesus gave us an opportunity to put ourself in the story.
A paradox gives clarity.
John 17:9-
1 John 2
This world is perishing.
If you please God you will live forever.
James 4:4
You can't be close to the world and close to God.
That is spiritual adultery.
2 Timothy 3
Romans 12
Is what I'm doing making me closer to God or farther from Him?
There must be a complete surrender of our wholeslves to God.
John 1:8-10
The Example we have in the Bible is Jesus.
John 17:14
We are called to witness to the world.
1 Corinthians 5:9-10
We have to live in this world.
We are not to be cut off from those.
We are not to follow them in their sins.
We are to be a light to the world.
Churches of the world are changing their doctrine to be more acceptable.
Hebrews 3:12-13
Sin can deceive us.
Sin and the world are deceitful.
Satan will use the world to deceive us.
John 8:33
Jesus came to set us free.
1 Peter 4:1-3
We are no longer to live our lives as if we don't know God.
We are to have a higher standard.

We have to aware the world can corrupt us.
We are held to the Standards of God's Law.

Jesus has sent us into the world.

We are to be an example to the world.
We need to find a balance of being in the world but not of the world.
We need to turn to Jesus as our example.
He was in the world.
Matthew 9:10-12
Christ always took time for prayer and to spend time with the Father.
Jesus is our example.

Staying close to God is key.
He wants us to do the same.
It is the only way we can have balance.
Hebrews 4:15
We cannot claim the protection of Jesus if we strive to be like the world.

If we become like the world we cannot be a good witness.
How close are we to being of the world?
How close are we to God?

God granted Samson strength in weakness.

We are commissioned to be examples to the world.

It's a matter of faith and submission.
Examine the paradoxes in God's Word.
Tear them apart.
Use them to learn God's Word.
