INT. - MICHAEL'S HOUSE - TWO HOURS LATER

Kye is sitting on the couch. His feet are on the coffee table. Gabriel walks over. Kye looks at him.

GABRIEL

I care about you.

KYE

You do huh?

GABRIEL

Yes.

Kye takes his feet off the table then stands up.

KYE

Why?

GABRIEL

Do I need a reason to care?

KYE

Yes.

GABRIEL

I care because you are a person. I don't need any other reason.

KYE

Yes you do.

GABRIEL

I'm not like your parents.

KYE

You're not like anyone I've ever met.

John James walks over.

JOHN JAMES

You may not understand that we care about you but we do care about you.

Ty walks over. Gabriel turns to face him.

GABRIEL

I care about you.

TY

You care about me?

GABRIEL

Yes.

John James turns to face Ty.

JOHN JAMES

We both care about you.

Jye walks over.

GABRIEL

I care about all of you.

JOHN JAMES

We all do.

Michael walks over. They look at him.

MICHAEL

I love all five of you.

GABRIEL

I love you too.

JOHN JAMES

I love you too.

KYE

You love us?

MICHAEL

Yes.

TY

You love me?

MICHAEL

Yes.

This next scene is from "Inspiring Love In Action".

INT. - MICHAEL'S HOUSE - AN HOUR LATER

Michael watches as Ty walks over.

TY

You keep calling me sweet boy or your sweet son.

MICHAEL

You are very sweet.

TY

Gabriel and John James are sweet.

MICHAEL

You are sweet. You have been through so much.

TY

Many people have.

MICHAEL

The abuse you suffered was worse than most. It went past abuse. It was more like torture. Even after all of that you have no anger in you. You have the biggest heart of anyone. Generous does not seem strong enough a word to say how generous you are. You are always concerned about how other people feel. Yes, I know Gabriel is too. But that does not make it less so for you.

Michael puts his hands on Ty’s shoulders.

MICHAEL

My son, you are very sweet.

Michael takes his hands off Ty’s shoulders.

TY

You immediately started calling me your son.

MICHAEL

Yes. The day I adopted you you became my son.

TY

I’ve never called you my father.

MICHAEL

It is okay.

TY

It’s not. I’m sorry.

MICHAEL

It is okay, my son.

TY

I guess I kept expecting you to get mad at me.

MICHAEL

I know. I am not mad at you. You are a good kid.

TY

At first I kept expecting you to hit me.

MICHAEL

I know. That was all you knew. I will never hit you.

TY

I know that now. For someone that is supposedly so smart I’m very dumb sometimes.

MICHAEL

You are not dumb. Do not ever call yourself dumb.

TY

I hope I never hurt you.

MICHAEL

You have never hurt me.

Michael embraces Ty in a hug.

MICHAEL

I love you, my son.

Michael backs up.

TY

I love you too.

Michael kisses Ty on the forehead then backs up slightly.

This next scene is from "Continued Love In Action".

INT. – MICHAEL’S HOUSE – FIVE HOURS LATER

Kye and Jye are standing facing each other.

KYE

I still don’t understand how those two are so sweet and selfless.

Gabriel walks over.

GABRIEL

To me it is easier to care than to not care.

Kye and Jye turn to face Gabriel.

GABRIEL

An open heart is open to the good in the world. A closed hardened heart is closed to all the good. You need to let the good in. We can’t let pain make us stop caring.

Ty walks over.

TY

My heart is closed and hardened.

John James walks over.

JOHN JAMES

No it is not.

Kye, Jye, Gabriel, and Ty turn to face John James.

JOHN JAMES

Your heart is filled with pain but it is not closed or hardened. You care too much for your heart to be closed.

KYE

Ty and Gabriel are completely selfless.

JYE

Don’t even say you’re not.

Chris walks over.

CHRIS

Get back in bed.

Gabriel and Ty walk off.
