“Coming Out Of The Dark” Text

This poem was written last year. It is published in my book “I Know Now

Coming Out Of The Dark

(Written November 6th, 2025) 


Started life in the dark 

It got so dark 


Dark in my thoughts 

Dark in my heart 


It was dark when I was awake 

And often dark when I was asleep 


Every smile was forced 

If I acted okay, it was an act 


I was never okay 

Darkness surrounded me 


It was all I could see 

It was all I could feel 


Now, I can see some light 

I am coming out of the dark 


I have hope I never had 

I can see beyond the dark 


Life has meaning 

My life has purpose
