EXT. – ROOF OF MICHAEL’S HOUSE – SEVEN HOURS LATER


Ty is sitting on the roof. Gabriel walks over then sits next to Ty on Ty’s right side.


GABRIEL

We really do care about you.


TY

Why?


GABRIEL

After the way you have been treated, it will take time for you to understand others caring about you.


GABRIEL

(beat)

Let me talk to you about the Lord.


TY

If you want.


GABRIEL

Are you okay with that?


TY

I don’t care.


GABRIEL

I want you to know the Lord loves you. We love you but the Lord also loves you.


TY

You love me?


GABRIEL

Yes.


TY

How can you love me?


GABRIEL

It’s easy. You are my brother and I love you.


TY

I’m not really your brother.


GABRIEL

Yes you are. Michael adopted you just as he adopted me.


Ty looks at Gabriel.


GABRIEL

If I ask you something, will you answer honestly?


TY

Yes. Or I won’t answer.


GABRIEL

Did you come up on the roof to think or to jump?


Ty looks away.


TY

I don’t know.


GABRIEL

Well you are sitting. That’s got to be a good sign.


TY

I don’t know.


GABRIEL

I want you to know you can talk to me about anything.


Ty looks at Gabriel.


GABRIEL

I’m a good listener and I honestly care about you.


TY

I don’t understand.


GABRIEL

I know.


Jye walks over. They look at him.


JYE

You both better get down.


Gabriel stands up. He extends his right hand to Ty.


CHRIS (O.C.)

Where are you kids?


Ty stands up. Gabriel puts his arm down. Jye, Gabriel, and Ty climb down a tree that touches the roof. Chris walks over. They look at him.


CHRIS

Where were you three?


TY

It was my fault. Please don’t hurt them. If you want to hit someone, hit me. I’m used to it.


CHRIS

I will never hit you or them.


JYE

My father is the overprotective type. He will never hit any of us. He would beat someone up to protect us but he would never hurt any of us.


Chris kneels in front of Ty.


CHRIS

I will never hit you or them.

This children’s book is based on my "Inspiring Influence" books. John James and Gabriel were adopted at the age of 10 by Michael. While at the park, Gabriel noticed Ty. Ty ran off when Michael walked over. Years later, they found Ty in the ER. Michael quickly adopted Ty.  When they are 18 John James, Gabriel, and Ty still live with Michael. This book has some photos and a couple drawings.

This children’s book is based on my “Love In Action” books. Kye, Jye, John James, Gabriel, and Ty were taken in as foster kids by Michael. Michael wanted to adopt all five. He learned Kye and Jye were his nephews. Michael adopted John James, Gabriel, and Ty. This book has some photos and a couple drawings.
