Book Excerpt from "Heroic Heart" (ISBN: 978-1-387-80484-9)

INT. – CAMP CABIN ONE – TEN MINUTES LATER

The roof is caved in.

Nick is trapped under a pile of wood. Nate (kid) and Joseph are trying to get the wood off Nick.

NATE (KID)

Hang on, Nick. We’ll get this off of you.

Wearing his usual plus a black cap and sunglasses, Ty runs in then runs over to Nick. He pulls the wood off of Nick. Ty picks Nick up. He carries Nick out of the cabin with Nate (kid) and Joseph following.

NATE (KID)

Where are you taking our brother?

TY

To safety.

Ty carries Nick to the door of the underground shelter.

Angela runs over.

ANGELA

Those are my brothers.

Ty hands Nick to Angela. She grabs Nick. Ty opens the door.

TY

Get in the shelter.

ANGELA

How do you know about the shelter?

TY

Get in.

ANGELA

What about you?

TY

I need to make sure everyone is safe.

Ty runs off.
